secondly, trolls are people who will write a reply or post a topic to simply bash a game or, more commonly, a system. 95% of the time, they are also fanboys.
thirdly there are a number of reasons why topics get locked; they have become off-topic, there is already a sticky for it, trolling, too many offensive/insulting posts. All these questions and more can be answered on the newbies board and by reading the Terms of Service (ToS)

More specifically, ''whats trolls''. Good response Cougar. For the more current reasoning to why so many topics are getting locked on the Xbox 360 forum, as Chaos Cougar mentioned, a lot of topics are being created about ODST when there is a sticky at the top that says ''KEEP IT ALL IN HERE.'' But rather than read and follow the general guidelines of positive posting, they just create their topic so they can be original.
