Project Natal. Gimme your thoughts!!

Ok, so seriously. I just watched the official trailer for Project Natal and some gameplay footage of Milo.I'm pretty sure i pooped a little! This looks like something that could revolutionize home entertainment!! At least a little bit. As cool as this is, i still want some stuff you can just play while chillen in a chair.Penny for your thoughts??Project Natal. Gimme your thoughts!!
No, just no. I think it's a horrible idea.Project Natal. Gimme your thoughts!!
Okay, with all the stuff they are showing that it can do it looks absolutely AMAZING. If not even for the gaming end of it. Being able to voice chat and scan things in like the dresses would actually change the way you use your television all together. The facial recognition with the other stuff is really something out of a sci fi movie, which is great. Not sure about the driving a car with an air wheel, but I guess you could just hold a real steering wheel in your hands if it made you feel beter. As for the scanning in objects for games; sure that works well with a skate board that has a top and a bottom, but what about a 3D object such as a rubix cube that has 6 sides? How about a real gun to use with a shooter? Guns have distinct top, bottoms, and sides. I think they are being deceptive on the in game objects as I have only heard about the skateboard numerous times. That being said... At one time I thought the Wii was going to change the entire gaming industry. Until I bought one, and it collected dust for a couple of years. It works at about 50% of what my expectations for it were. Then they release Wii Motion Plus, and you know that whole story. If it works the way they are showing it working, must buy, will totally revolutionize your living room. That's a pretty big ''if'' in my opinion though, as they obviously have it doctored in that trailor to make it work perfectly, and it's sure trying to bite off a lot there.
One more thing that would bother me about this... When is this due? I am guessing holiday 2010. Well, how long would you expect this console generation to last? I know they are going to drag it out a little bit since the PS3 and 360 weren't met with the reception that they were hoping for, but seriously, the 360 will be 5 years old when that launches. I would expect a new generation in 2012, 2013 at the absolute latest. So, would the new console utilize it, or would you have to wait a couple years for Natal 2? Maybe it would have it already built into it? But I wouldn't pay an extremely high price for something that will be completely obsolete on only 2 years time.
I saw the E3 footage of Natal and Milo. Looks interesting enough, though I'm not really partial to the idea of jumping about and waving my arms in front of the TV.

Next time, USE THREAD SEARCH,
and that goes to everyone
It could work, but don't count on
It will work, it will bring new stuff to the table but it won't redefine gaming. You game with a gamepad or maybe a KB/M but not with anything else. Developers should be busy trying to find ways to revolutionize their games, not trying to revolutionize how their standard games are played. If they do that, all that happens is you playing Halo 6 while waving your arm around instead of playing a totally new game with new gameplay standards.
I like the technology, but don't think that this is going to completely replace the controller. The devs themselves say that while it is revolutionary, it doesn't lend itself to control all aspects of all games. It wouldn't make sense in most cases. But it can be used to enhance games. We're not going to be playing Halo or Gears of War without a controller. But we may be using Natal to give hand signals to command squad members or to navigate through menus. Or maybe facial recognition in an RPG. There will be niche games out there that totally utilize it like that dodgeball game, but on the more traditional games I see it being used more as an OPTIONAL ENHANCEMENT.

Their plan is to extend the lifespan of this console generation with Natal which is fine by me. With or without it, I still see this generation going on for another 4 or 5 years anyway, but if Natal is a success it could find its way as a basic component of the next generation. But again, not as the primary method of control, but rather an enhancement.
i think it has great potential hopefully it will live up to the hype and has a decent price.
I think it's a really cool feature, but I doubt it will revolutionize games completely. It should be used as a feature primarily for interface control. For example, navigating through menus or interacting with objects in games. I don't think it should be used as a primary control feature though. Trying to play an FPS or RPG would be pretty annoying having to flail your arms around. It would be cool though, if you could interact with objects such as computers, doors, menus, etc. using the Natal system.
I will use it casually, to navigate through the menus, and to play games with it casually. I don't mind motion controls but I just don't see myself really getting into the game using motion controls. That's probably why my Wii is my least played console because of motion controls. The Natal has potential though.
Any gaming peripheral that forces me off my couch and consequently prevents me from being a lazy fat*** is a bad idea. :P
